Davis County, UT 9/12 Project

April 22, 20011 Meeting

Those of us at the last 9/12 meeting witnessed Senator Stuart Adams respectfully decline to comment on his vote in favor of HB116. He declined several times, with concerned citizens repeatedly asking him to explain his vote from both the podium and from an obviously upset audience.

I have never been a one issue voter in my life. After the passage of HB116 which I view as an absolute assault on our constitution, I am rethinking my one issue voting policy. I don't think I could vote for anyone (in the primary election) who voted in favor of this bill, no matter what the rest of their voting record is. I would never do this in a general election of course, but I would for the primary because never in my life have I seen such an unconstitutional bill passed by a so-called conservative majority.

Is the Tea Party going to run a challenger against Senator Adams in the primary election and anyone else who voted in favor of HB116?

What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

February 18, 2011 Meeting

I've been meaning to for some time, but finally got around to joining the 9/12 project in my local chapter here in Davis County, Utah. First impressions will make or break your desire to return to any new group or club. Let's just say, not only am I going back, but plan to volunteer and participate. The days of just sitting back and voting are over.

What a great group of people, all concerned citizens, and the cohesiveness of group was felt on my first day, bound by a love of country and a geniune concern of the path the country is going.  We had great discussion from state represemtatives on a variety of items before the Utah State legislature. These speakers knew their stuff and it was evident in their delivery.

The first item discussed was "Where is the line, America?", HB0076, sponsored by Rep. Ken Ivory.

The next speaker was Rep. Curt Oda
Rep. Curt Oda
who discussed his ideas to end discrimination ammendment. He requested anyone from the audience to forward on to him any examples they have of reverse discrimination, so please let him know if you know of any.  Click here to learn more about his plan.

Larry Hilton and Rep. Brad Galvez discussed HB317, the "sound money" bill.  They did a great job taking a complex subject and making it understandable.   Get more info at utahsoundmoney.org.
